‘I pulled my 12-year-old daughter from school to focus on influencer career’

She's starting to get 'opportunities' in the industry

Kat Clark is an Australian mum-of-two who has shot to fame as a star of social media. The 37-year-old has amassed 5.3 million followers on TikTok and was named Creator of the Year at the platform's 2022 awards.

But her rise to internet stardom has meant she is travelling much more. This has had an impact on her family, particularly her youngest child, 12-year-old Deja.

Kat's influencer lifestyle and travelling schedule has made it difficult for Deja to maintain a normal primary school routine.

Deja also co-hosts popular podcast Basically Besties with her mum, which has led to the youngster also being offered "opportunities" in the world of influencing.

So, her mum has decided to take her out of school and homeschool her youngest.

She told the It's All Her podcast: "Deja's even starting to get opportunities as well now, so 9-3, Monday to Friday schooling isn't working for us because we've found that we've had to take her out of school quite a bit.

"We think that's best for her, just because we don't want her to miss out on these opportunities. TikTok takes a lot of time. It's just what works for our family."

Kat's eldest daughter Latisha, 20, had finished high school and enrolled in law school, but ended up dropping out six months later to focus on podcasting.

Kat wants to allow Deja to also have the opportunity to pursue whatever career she wants to.

She said: "With Deja, if she wanted to be a doctor or lawyer - we'd encourage her to go after those dreams. But currently those are not what her goals are. We're willing to work with her whatever happens."

The mum added that if her youngest wants to return to traditional schooling in the future, she won't stop her.
