Greggs is bringing back one of its most requested pastries, with the Steak & Stilton Bake returning to shops on Thursday, 3 September after disappearing from the menu seven years ago.
The bake was last sold in 2019, but it seems fans never quite accepted its departure. Greggs has now confirmed to Metro that the pastry will make its comeback as part of the bakery chain’s autumn menu, with a price of around £2.50, although this may vary slightly depending on the location.
The filling combines diced beef in rich gravy, blue Stilton and grilled onions, all wrapped in flaky puff pastry.
Greggs itself has described the Steak & Stilton Bake as a “legendary item”, saying customers have been asking for its return for years. Its comeback follows a familiar pattern of food chains bringing back discontinued favourites after sustained customer demand, much like Subway’s decision to introduce ranch sauce in the UK following fan pressure.
The Steak & Stilton Bake is not the only arrival. Joining it are:
The fan-favourite Pumpkin range and Pumpkin Spice drinks also return. Greggs said the seasonal items will stay on sale until the Christmas menu launches, though it is keeping that date under wraps for now.
It is a menu built for autumn queueing: a savoury pastry with real regional pull, priced within a few pence of a meal deal, sitting alongside the comfort food that has long dominated the great British takeaway canon. Anyone who spent seven years mourning the bake now has a date in the diary.
