But as it turns out, the age of the person you’re dating could have an impact on how successful the relationship is destined to be A recent study of 3,000 people by Andrew Francis and Hugo Mialon, professors in the Department of Economics at Emory University in Atlanta, found that there are definite correlations between the age gap in a relationship and how long the relationship lasts. Not surprisingly, the larger the gap, the larger the risk of separation. Even a five-year age gap puts couples at 18 percent more likely to split. The rate rises dramatically to 39 percent for a ten-year gap and a whopper 95 percent for a 20-year gap. The most successful age gap is just one year, with these couples facing only a 3 percent chance of divorce. Other positive factors include having your first child out of wedlock. Having a little one before you walk down the aisle, statistically means you’re 59 percent less likely to have a divorce than a couple with no children. Interesting stuff...
