Someone tried to arm wrestle 28-stone strongman Eddie Hall on Come Dine With Me

There was only going to be one winner...

It’s not every day that you have a World’s Strongest Man contender around for dinner.

But Stoke-On-Trent strongman Eddie Hall was a guest on Channel 4 cooking show Come Dine With Me alongside his wife Alex.

If you’ve not heard of Eddie before, he’s a bit of a beast. He weighs 28 stone, he eats 10,000 calories a day and he just smashed the world deadlift record with a monstrous lift of 500kg.

He’s probably pretty handy to have around if you need a tricky jar opening, but the last thing you’d want to do is start challenging him to a test of strength at the dinner table.

But that’s exactly what one of the other Come Dine With Me contestants – Simon – did over dinner during the final meal at his house.

Simon had won North West’s Strongest Schoolboy when he was 16 and evidently fancied his chances against the reigning Britain’s Strongest Man champion. There was only ever going to be one winner.

Maybe it was the wine, who knows, but for some reason he challenged the 28-year-old behemoth to an arm wrestle right there and then.

Just taking one look at Eddie’s arms, which are the size of regular people’s legs, would be enough to put most people off going in for an arm wrestle.

Not Simon though. He bravely gave it a crack but within seconds Eddie gave a little wink to the camera and slammed his hand into the table.

Eddie won in the strength department but his cooking didn’t win the £1,000 top prize on the show.

The hulking powerhouse also revealed to the Stoke Sentinel that he had to sneak food into the other contestants’ homes because the portions were too small to fill him up.

Hall, who eats around eight meals a day to fuel his extreme training, said: “It was definitely an experience. It was really hard work filming from 7am to 3am the next morning.

“The food the other couples cooked was good but the portions were a bit underwhelming for me so I sneaked food into other people’s houses under the table. I took sandwiches from home and that is how I got around that.”

We’d have loved to see every one of the contestants trying to tackle his strongman diet on the show.
