Real-life Breaking Bad as American police discover meth lab remains in restaurant

Tom Victor

One of the problems in copying a criminal plot from a TV show is that real-life cops might be more vigilant.

We don’t doubt that the popularity of Breaking Bad, featuring close ties between the meth business and the Los Pollos Hermanos fast food chain, will have led police to be on the lookout for similar schemes.

Plenty of aspects of the show have made their way into real-life, with Jesse Pinkman’s house up for sale and Los Pollos Hermanos poised to become a fully-functioning restaurant chain, but there’s another copycat scheme which has failed to gain the same traction.

A pair of Americans have been arrested after authorities found remnants of a meth lab on the grounds of a Taco Bell restaurant in Iowa.

The restaurant has been closed to be “sanitized”, according to a statement from the chain, while one of those arrested was a Taco Bell employee who has now been fired from his post.
