Liver King admits to using steroids and issues apology following email leak

‘Yes, I’ve done steroids and yes, I am on steroids’

Fitness influencer Liver King has apologised and admitted to using steroids after an email leak claimed his physique was the result of using more than $10,000 of performance-enhancing drugs a month – not the carnivorous diet he promotes.

Brian Johnson has become social media famous in recent years for his ridiculously ripped physique and his ridiculous “primal”  carnivorous diet. As the Texan handle suggests, he eats a lot of liver and other animal organs.

Earlier this week YouTube channel MorePlatesMoreDates obtained emails allegedly sent from the Liver King to a bodybuilding coach in which he asks for advice on how to better his steroid cycle.

On Tuesday, Derek from the Youtube channel shared a video revealing the alleged emails where King admits to taking over $11.5k (£9.4K) in HGH supplements a month, including several performance-enhancing drugs.

Johnson has since apologised writing in an Instagram post that a “real man knows when it’s time to look in the mirror… to start taking fill accountability for his actions.”

In a video, Johnson said he had ‘f**ked up’ and “misled” many people and conceded that previous claims that he had never touched drugs was “a lie”.

“I’m making this video to apologise because I f**ked up,” he said in a video. “Because I’m embarrassed and ashamed. Because I lied and I misled a lot of people.

“Before social media I was rich and anonymous and after social media I’m still rich but no longer anonymous and I never expected this kind of exposure in the public eye.

“It’s been tricky as f**k to navigate… Clearly, I did it wrong and I’m here now to set the record straight.

“Yes, I’ve done steroids and yes, I am on steroids monitored and managed by trained hormone clinicians.”

Johnson said he wanted to raise awareness for the high suicide rates among young men who suffer from depression or “low motivation”.

“Liver King the public figure was an experiment to spread a message,” Johnson explained, before adding: “I’ve been on several podcasts and when asked if I’ve ever taken steroids I’ve always said no, I don’t touch the stuff… never gonna touch the stuff.

“That was a lie.”

Johnson admitted that he kept denying the truth to himself and had “dug myself into a bigger and deeper hole”.

“I have only myself to blame.

“I did that and it was all wrong. I will be better, I will talk about it openly. “I’m as sorry as a man can be and all I can do is take extreme ownership right now, be better and lead myself to a better life as a better human.”

Joe Rogan was among a number of people to previous question the Liver King’s results.

In an episode of his podcast, Rogan said: “The Liver King thing drives me nuts, because that guy’s on steroids, just shut the f**k up.

“I know he’s eating really healthy, he’s eating all these animal foods, he’s eating organ meat which is very rich in nutrients, all that is true.

“But he’s dodging the main bullet. Look at him! Do you know how rare it is to have a physique like that and not be on steroids?

“That’s a gimmick, that guy. He’s got an ass filled with steroids is what he got. That’s not a natural body. That guy is shooting all kinds of s**t into his system to achieve that kind of physique.

“I don’t even know if there’s a benefit in eating raw meat. From what I’ve understood, talking to experts, there’s actually a lot gained from cooking because the protein becomes more bioavailable.”
