Fox News fail is a pleasure to watch

Live television fails are almost always unbearable to watch, and yet, our eyes are always glued to the screen. The latest news anchor wishing he would sink beneath the news desk is Fox News presenter Bill Hemmer. Foolishly, Hemmer said that Karl Marx, the godfather of Marxism, wrote Hitler’s infamoused book, Mein Kampf.

“I remember 20 years old going to Trier, Germany, and trying to find the home of Karl Marx, cause, you know, 1848 –  he wrote Mein Kampf,” he said on air. “I want to know what it was all about.”

Later in the show Hemmer admitted his mistake, saying: “I misspoke. 1848. Karl Marx. The Communist Manifesto.”

The Communist Manifesto was actually written by German Philosophers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in 1848. It has served as the template for Marxism and Communism since its introduction more than a century ago.

Mein Kampf on the other hand was written by the Nazi party leader in 1925, which went on to serve as the Nazi party biblical text. It outlined many of the perspectives Hitler turned into policy following his rise to power.

The misinformation came after the two news presenters discussed the applications of critical race theory. Fox News contributor Marc Thiessen had said that college students should be the ones studying difficult ideologies, not youngsters in grade schools.

People online were quick to make fun of the news anchor:

“It’s part of the education of America”. Truer words have never been spoken. Well done @BillHemmer,” said Brian.

“Fucking hell. Stupidity knows no bounds…..particularly when you’re a Fox News anchor,” said another.

“If only someone invented something where you could easily search for facts,” writes Ellen, and someone should definitely get on inventing that.
