Exclusive look at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s gutsy wedding invitations

They've gone for an unconventional invitation and it's sure to set a trend

This is an exclusive.

Hug a stranger and kiss a baby because the Royal Wedding invitations have officially been sent out! Hurrah!

You’ll notice that the Royals don’t just ‘send out’ wedding invitations, by the way. They’re not peasants. They ‘issue’ wedding invites.

Most of us won’t be receiving an invite to the Royal wedding, unfortunately. But we can dream.

Luckily, we’ve been sent an exclusive look at the invitations that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have issued for their wedding.

It is our distinct honour to be able to share this exclusive content with you.

The stunning invites have been handwritten on A5 off-white paper, with a yellowish hue. The jagged edge on the left adds a sense of spontaneity, while the three straight edges maintain an air of sophistication.

It’s a bold and simplistic invite, as the couple appear to have shunned all Royal traditions and come up with their own unique way of inviting guests to their special day.

“Harry + Megan Weding”

The header allows the pair to show off their astute sense of humour that the nation adores. Meghan spells her name with a ‘h’, so the omission of that letter is clearly a nod to those in the media industry that frequently misspell her name. What a clever joke. They’ve also forgotten the second ‘d’ in wedding, which obviously stands for Diana, Prince Harry’s mother who would surely be incredibly proud of him today.

“Can you come?”

The directness of the wedding invite is fantastic. It’s just straight to the point. None of this ‘We request your presence’ nonsense or ‘RSVP at your nearest convenience’ patter. This is a power couple that doesn’t mess about. They’re busy people and they’re fully aware that those invited are busy as well. Nobody has time to read more than thirteen words in one sitting, that’s a widely-known fact.

In case it wasn’t apparent, the recipient must tick either ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to indicate whether they will be attending this special ceremony. It’s a fun and interactive portion of the invite that allows the guest to feel involved. Often with Royal Weddings, the attendees can feel a bit unnecessary, almost as if they’re in the way, with no real service to offer. But with this fun box-ticking exercise, they’re helping out from the get-go.

“Please tick box”

This direction is a nice touch as well, as it reminds the invitation’s recipient that they must tick a box to indicate their likelihood of attending the wedding. It seems self-explanatory, but Harry and Meghan are merely removing any chance of error or confusion. They’re a very considerate couple, as we know.

The final words of the invitation are precious.

“Thank you”

It’s such a caring statement from the Royal couple. Technically, the wedding invite receiver should be thanking them for being given the option of attending their very special day. But they’re thanking the guests? It’s the wrong way around, surely? Again, this is a perfect demonstration of Harry and Meghan’s humility. They’re shying away from having all the power. They’re fun, young and considerate people. If you attend their wedding, they will be the ones doing the thanking, sonny Jim.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding invitation is an ironclad sign of the future of the Royals. Many are questioning whether there’s any necessity for the monarchy in modern society, but with ambassadors such as this pair, it looks like we’re all in very safe hands. What a couple <3

(If you want to see the actual invitations, they’re here. But honestly, I wouldn’t bother. They’re boring as h*ck)
