The group of five had last been seen in the early hours of Saturday
CCTV footage has captured the car a group of friends were travelling before three of them were found dead in a crash.
Sophie Russon, 20, Eve Smith, 21, Darcy Ross, 21, Rafel Jeanne, 24, and Shane Loughlin, 32, were last seen in Cardiff in the early hours of Saturday, having travelled there from Porthcawl, The Mirror reported.
They had made the trip in a Volkswagen Tiguan and all been reported as missing.
On Monday, police discovered three bodies in a crashed Tiguan.
Gwent Police said that following inquiries to locate the group, officers found the car they were last seen in, just after midnight on Monday, in the St Mellons area of Cardiff. They have not said what members of the group are deceased.
CCTV footage shared online by friends of the group shows the white car the group had been travelling in before it was involved in what police believe was a road traffic collision on the A48, LBC reports.
The group were understood to be enjoying a night out at the popular bar Muffler before going to clubbing hotspot Trecco Bay in Porthcawl, the Mirror reported.
Gwent Police confirmed to the PA news agency that three of those who were reported missing have been found dead.
The other two people in the car are in hospital.
Specialist officers are supporting the families of those involved and inquiries are ongoing.
In a tweet, Gwent Police said: “If you can help call us on 101, or send us a direct message, quoting 2300071791.”
The case has been referred to the IOPC in line with normal procedures.
