American microbrewers to make craft beer from human sewage

Urine for a treat...

Ben Kenyon

Boozers are pretty good at turning ale into p*ss.

Especially when pay day lands on a Friday night and it’s Happy Hour down the local.

But one Oregon firm is reversing this seemingly one-way process.

Yes, they want to turn your p*ss into delicious craft beer.

We imagine even the most hardened hipsters are baulking at the thought, but hear us out.

Sewage treatment firm Clean Water Services plan to treat human effluent before handing it over to microbrewers to create beer.

The idea is actually to raise awareness of the “reusable nature of all water”, assistant director Robert Baumgartner said.

You can try the first pint then Robert.

The water is supposedly treated to a very high quality and poses low risk to human health (unless you have a skin-full and try out some ill-advised daredevil stunts).

Only five to 10 barrels will be produced and made available at tasting events – but if it’s popular there could be more in the pipeline.

So if your beer tastes like p*ss, we’d advise you check the label.
