The Nintendo Switch 2 console has not yet been released but shoppers can pre order the new console already after one retailer launched a 1p pre order option.

Fans of the Switch who want to upgrade to the latest model can register their interest in pre orders on the Shopto website here and pay just 1p to secure their spot.

The deal has seen huge numbers of gamers sign up, with Shopto forced to limited pre orders to one per person to meet demand. However, there is a catch as Shopto also says pre orders are not guaranteed once the console is released.

It says: “We are excited to announce the opportunity to register your interest in the Nintendo Switch 2.

“Please note that the official price and allocation details have yet to be confirmed by Nintendo. Pre-orders are not guaranteed!

“You will be notified via email with updates as soon as we receive official news.”

It is unusual for pre orders to open before a console is even released. Nintendo is expected to officially announce the console during Nintendo Direct on 2 April and official pre orders will likely open around the same time.

Nintendo will hold in-person events in cities around the world in the weeks after launch. The London date will be 11-13 April and will allow gamers to get their hands on the console and test it out.

Leaked information about the new Switch hints at a console with a larger screen and more processing power in order to play modern games. It will also come with a host of new games including a new Mario Kart and a new 3D Mario game. Fans will also be able to play original Switch games on the console after Nintendo confirmed backward capacity.
