Lionel Messi sends support to Ronaldinho after his mother's death
"Ronnie, I have no words. I can't believe it"
Lionel Messi has led support to his former teammate Ronaldinho, after the death of his mother.
The Brazilan's mother, Miguelina, died aged 71, Peruvian national TV station America confirmed over the weekend. She had been taken to Mae de Deus Hospital in Porto Alegre in December following a positive Covid-19 test.
Messi posted a tribute on Instagram Stories, saying "Ronnie, I have no words. I can't believe it," said Messi. "Just sending you a lot of strength and a big hug for you and the whole family. I'm very sorry. Rest in peace."
The duo were at Barcelona together between 2003 and 2008.
PSG and Brazil also offered his condolences, saying "Stay strong Roni... I am very sorry."

Ronaldinho's former clubs PSG and Atletico Mineiro both posted messages of condolences on social media.

Atletico Mineiro posted on Twitter: "It is with great sadness that Clube Atlético Mineiro receives the news of the death of Dona Miguelina, mother of Ronaldinho."
"The Atleticana Family is in mourning and shares the moment of pain with their idol. May God welcome you with open arms and comfort the heart of our eternal ace. Rest in peace, Dona Miguelina."
