Fulham have reportedly made an offer for Barcelona defender Gerard Pique

Could Pique be on his way out of Barcelona?

Gerard Pique might have an offer from a Premier League side – but not to a club you would expect.

Libero is reporting that Fulham have made an approach for the Barcelona defender.

According to outlet, Fulham have made “a not inconsiderable offer” for the 33-year-old to join them for their Premier League return.

The report goes on to say that “the offer is already on the table and it will depend on Barcelona if they agree to negotiate.”

It comes after a tumultuous week for the Catalan side.

On Friday they were dumped out of the Champions League after losing 8-2 to Bayern Munich in the quarter final.

Manager Quique Setien was sacked three days after the defeat, with Dutch coach and former Barcelona player Ronald Koeman set to replace him.

Gerard Pique described the defeat as hitting “rock bottom” for Barcelona.

“We feel devastated, although shame is the real word I’m looking for. We cannot afford to compete like this because it’s not the first, the second or the third time that something like this has happened,” he told reporters.

“This is very painful but I hope it serves some purpose… We all need to reflect deeply, the club needs lots of changes, I’m not talking about the coach, players – I don’t want to point the finger at anyone but the club needs changes on a structural level.”

“If new blood needs to come for the club to change course then I’m not untouchable and I’ll be the first to leave if needs be, because it seems as if we’ve hit rock bottom. We all have to reflect about what is the best thing for the club and for Barca.”

Fulham are returning to the Premier League after one season in the Championship. Scott Parker’s side beat West London rivals Brentford in the play-off final to secure their bounce back to the top division.
