Lidl have released a Pigs In Blankets Pizza for Christmas

Christmas on a pizza

Pigs in blankets are a Christmas staple – the big day jut isn’t the same if you don’t have them with your turkey.

But what if instead of having them with the main Christmas dinner, you had them… on a pizza?

Yup, a pigs in blankets pizza is now a thing, thanks to Lidl. They are bringing back their pigs in blankets pizza again for Christmas.

Retailing for just £3.29, the stoned-baked sourdough base pizza is topped with a Mediterranean-style tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, red onions, cranberry sauce, along with the pigs in blankets.

The pizza will be available from Thursday, December 3rd. Because what is more festive than an oven pizza with pigs in blankets on it in the first week of December?

What’s that? That isn’t enough? You want even more crazy pork-sausages-wrapped-in-bacon-based concuctions? Fancy cake company Pleesecake have made a pigs in blanket cheesecake.

Before you feel slightly sick, we should point out that this is a savoury cheesecake, which we can see going quite nicely with sausages and bacon.

Hilariously dubbed ‘The Notorious P.I.B.’ the cake costs £26 and serves 10 to 12 people.

“The most controversial Pleesecake to date!” reads the description.

“This savoury cheesecake will make the perfect Christmas or Boxing day centre piece. With a cheddar cheese with thyme oatmeal base, a savoury cheesecake filling with pigs in blankets, fresh thyme and fresh sage. Topped with a caramelised onion chutney, crispy pigs in blankets and fresh sprigs of thyme and rosemary.”

It turns out the market for novelty-pigs-in-blankets-based products is actually booming. Back in February 2019, Marks & Spencer offered a heart-shaped pig in blanket for Valentine’s Day, innocently named the ‘Love Sausage.’
