Aldi have launched a giant Ferrero Rocher-style frozen dessert in time for Christmas, and it’s only £4.99.

Available in stores from Monday October 26th, the limited edition dessert will still be around for the festive period.

While this giant dessert is not directly affiliated with the Ferrero Rocher brand, Aldi have sought to follow the recipe as closely as possible.

Much like its smaller form, the giant Ferrero Rocher is a truffle dome filled with a milk chocolate and hazelnut mousse, milk chocolate feuilletine, cocoa sponge cake and covered shell.

Aldi say the giant Ferrero Rocher will defrost and be ready for you to tuck into in an hour. The supermarket chain is launching a number of new desserts in time for Christmas, with the bulk made by manufacturers in France.

Alongside this new giant dessert, Aldi have also launched a Chocolate & Salted Caramel Layered Bar. Containing similar ingredients to the Ferrero Rocher-style dessert, this one comes with a dark chocolate and hazelnut mousse, a praline feuilletine, a salted butter caramel mousse and is topped off with a chocolate biscuit and dark chocolate shell.

We’ll take the two of them, please.

While it’s not clear what stage of lockdown we’ll be in come Christmas, Aldi certainly hope you’ll be able to enjoy the giant Ferrero Rocher alongside your family.

An Aldi spokesperson told The Grocer: “No one knows exactly how the situation will have changed by December but one thing we’re sure of is that Christmas won’t be cancelled.

“What we’re going through now and have been through, means people are going to be even more focused on celebrating with their household, sharing food and drink and gifts with their families, and that’s where Aldi comes in.”

It might seem a little too early to start planning Christmas dinner yet, but planning ahead is probably the best way to work around the coronavirus.

A spokesperson from Ferrero said: “We would like to clarify that the Chocolate and Praline Dome by Aldi is not affiliated to the Ferrero Rocher brand in any way. Therefore, we would like to add that our consumers should not expect any similar experience to that of their beloved Ferrero Rocher”.
