Popstar Never Stop Never Stopping is now on Netflix, and you need to watch it right now

Wil Jones

“Ever since I was born, I was dope”

Andy Samberg is a genius.

You know that. You are a smart person. You already watch Brooklyn Nine Nine and find it hilarious. You are probably also a cool person who loves Hot Rod, the underseen but incredible comedy he made with his best budz Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone.

As a trio, Samberg, Schaffer, and Taccone form The Lonely Island, purveyors of excellent comedy rap, who collaborate with some of the biggest artists in the world.

You know, like “Jizz In My Pants”.

Or “Jack Sparrow (ft. Michael Bolton)”.

You’re probably thinking “Someone should get those guys to do a big comedy musical movie, it would be hilarious”. AND THEY DID, but none of you went to see it and the film flopped at the box office.

But you can make up for it now. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping has been added to Netflix UK, and if you’ve never seen it, you need to watch it right now.

The trio play a rap act called The Style Boyz, until the group’s break out star Connor4Real (Samberg) ditches his bandmates to go solo, and becomes a megastar. But after tragedy strikes, he has to reconnect with his old friends, and… well, this isn’t really a film about plot. It just takes the standard music biopic template to let The Lonely Island fire out a stream of random rapid-fire jokes, and a load of new songs.

Look, just watch it already, and then start bugging all your friends by quoting all the best lines until they watch it themselves.
