TV fans have been urged to binge the ‘best sci-fi show ever’ before it leaves UK streaming platform.

The series The Expanse, which has been hailed as a hidden gem, first premiered almost a decade ago in 2015 but is now being removed from streaming service, Amazon Prime.

The series based on the novels of the same name by James S A Corey, focuses on a tale 200 years in the future in which humans have colonised the Solar System.

The search for a missing woman results in an enormous conspiracy being unravelled.

The first three seasons of the drama aired on US TV channel SyFy before moving to Amazon Prime Video for the final three seasons ahead of its finale in 2022.

The streaming giant has now revealed that for some subscribers, The Expanse – which stars actors including James Holden, Alex Kamal, Naomi Nagata and Amos Burton – will be removed within the next 30 days.

One reddit user noticed the expiry and posted: “Has anyone else noticed that The Expanse is listed under “Titles expiring in the next 30 days”? Is this intentional? Is it season-by-season only?”

Further exploration revealed that it appeared to be regional to the UK and/or Europe and may only affect the first season.

Several users reacted as one said: “Glad I asked for a physical copy of this series for Christmas.”

A second said: “I still have a slim small hope we might get further adaptations of the final books.”

Several people have raved about The Expanse over on X. One called it a ‘hidden gem’ that people will say is ‘one of the best sci-fi TV shows ever’.

A second wrote: “If you haven’t watched The Expanse on Amazon Prime do yourself a favour and watch it!”

If you haven’t yet seen it, you might want to stay up late and binge watch it while you still have chance!
