‘This is right before the concert yesterday. I’m crying’
Chloe Bailey was left in tears after a hotel messed up her vegan burger oder and served her meat.
The singer and her Little Mermaid sister Halle cut meat from their diet over 10 years ago.
But, over the weekend, before the pair were due to see Beyoncé perform in Atlanta, they were mistakenly served meat burgers.
Halle detailed the ordeal on TikTok and it has been doing the rounds on social media.
Addressing her followers, Chloe, said she had ordered a Beyond burger “for sis and I like usual. Specified that it’s vegan, no butter on the bun, nothing like that.”
The Have Mercy singer was in the shower when the burgers arrived, but her sister soon questioned her about their order.
Chloe explained: “She’s eating the burger and she’s like, ‘Are you sure this is Beyond?’ She took a couple of bites and she said, ‘This is really good, you sure it’s Beyond?'”
At that point, she reassured her sister that she had ordered a vegan burger. She then touched and smelled the patty, was felt reassured, “of course, it’s Beyond, yeah.”
But after getting dressed she gave it the taste test.
“I take a bite and the juice dripping from the burger is not like a Beyond burger. I just knew it was not a fake burger. ‘The one bite I took and I just knew. Immediately I said, ‘This doesn’t feel right”.”
She then rang the hotel’s front desk to check her order, and it became clear that the kitchen had made her a “brand burger”, not a Beyond burger.
“I don’t even know what a brand burger is,” Chloe said in her video.
“Immediately I’m losing my s***. I gobbled down a whole can of Sprite.
“Halle’s laughing at me because I’m crying. This is right before the concert yesterday. I’m crying, Halle’s just laughing so hard at me because I’m freaking out.”
Chloe lamented the fact that she had managed to avoid any red meat for 10 years before the incident.
Her fans felt her pain, one wrote: “If I put 10 years into something and someone’s mistake jeopardises that, I’d be p***ed…”‘
Another person compared the situation to a sober person being served alcohol.
Halle, who was recently named one of Peta’s most beautiful vegan celebrities in the world, has previously spoken about the siblings’ choice to ditch meat.
The 23-year-old told Complex in 2017: “Being vegan started from our mother. One day she was like, ‘I’m gonna try to be vegetarian for a week. You can join me if you’d like.’ We started the week with her and just never went back.”
