Begbie, Sick Boy, Renton and Spud are in, Danny Boyle is in, the script is terrific, it’s official; Trainspotting 2 is happening.

British director Boyle has confirmed they will start shooting the sequel next year and Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle are all back on board.

Boyle, who is promoting his latest movie Steve Jobs, told Coming Soon: “It’s May and June next year we shoot and we’ve got a terrific script. We’ve got the four main actors all eager and willing to do it.”

There has been talk of the follow-up to the 1996 cult film being on the cards for a while but only if the four lead actors managed to co-ordinate their busy schedules.

Boyle added: “I’m very happy because my only [concern] was that the script would be good for two of them and not so great for the other two, and they’d feel obliged to come back, but they’ve all got good stuff, and it’s a very interesting look at them again.

“Hopefully, we can get it finished in time to release it in 2016 which is the 20th Anniversary year, so yes, we’re on it, and it’s looking good.”
