Thorpe Park is getting an official Walking Dead roller coaster and it looks terrifying

For fans of The Walking Dead, what's your preferred method when it comes to evading a pack of flesh-eating zombies? Bash them over the head like Negan? Would you use your brains and like Rick? Whatever your technique is, you better be quick! Well, one surefire way of escaping some gruesome carnage is via Thorpe Park's new roller coaster that's based on the beloved show. The Walking Dead: The Ride will be added to the park this coming spring and it's going to be the world’s first Walking Dead roller coaster. As for its 'plot,' the experience goes a little something like this: "Thorpe Park Resort is overrun by Walkers and there is but one goal: survive. Making it to the sanctuary of the Safe Zone is vital for salvation. Located at the centre of the Island, navigate your way to the safety of the indoor bunker – but be warned. All signs point to an imminent invasion of Walkers, so keep your head down and move quickly for your best chance of staying alive.” While flying through the air, revellers will get to see gruesome scenes from the series as well as iconic locations like the prison watchtower and the Alexandria Safe Zone. The outdoor queue area is also going to be overrun with blood-soaked walkers and the ride will also incorporate the sense of smell. Mmm, rotting flesh must smell absolutely lovely during the British summer! In an interview with The Independent, a Thorpe Park spokesman said:  “It’s 15 out of 10 on the scare scale. We are combining physical and digital effects because it is going to be dark, so we are going to make the most of that. The darkness acted as a canvas for us. We have incorporated the latest in special effects, lighting, smells and even touch elements to create a terrifyingly unique atmosphere.” The Walking Dead returns to AMC for the second half of its eighth season this Sunday and The Walking Dead: The Ride is expected to debut around Easter.
