The terrifying TV show Unsolved Mysteries could be returning

Paul Moore

Anyone remember this? It was terrifying!

You could name an endless amount of scary films and horror classics like The Omen, Alien, The Thing, Poltergeist, The Exorcist, Halloween, Dawn of the Dead, The Shining, Texas Chainsaw Massacre etc, but for a certain generation, one TV show scared them more than anything else.

In the grand tradition of creepy horror tunes, Unsolved Mysteries probably had the most malevolent, haunting and disturbing intro music imaginable.

In case you can’t remember it, here it is.

It also helps that the late Robert Stack had a voice that could scare the living hell out of you.

Truth be told, he could probably read the tale of Humpty Dumpty to a bunch of school kids and traumatise them. His presenting style along with the deep, ominous and haunting voice will stay in our dreams/nightmares forever.

Speaking with Decider, the creators of the show, John Cosgrove and Terry Dunn Meurer have said that they’re interested in making new episodes of the beloved cult-show.

“We are actively talking to a couple of broadcasters who have shown interest, and we’re very optimistic that we’ll have something by way of new episodes by the end of the year,” Cosgrove said in a statement to the site. “It’s too early to go into much detail, but we’ve had our research producers look into possible stories and they’ve found some excellent ones which can be ready to go quickly.”

If new episodes are made, who could they possibly get to emulate Robert Stack’s amazing voice?
