Not everyone will be sure about this one

The Grinch is one of the Christmas season’s favourite characters.

He may not have started off well, but he grows a heart (or two) and becomes well-loved before the credits roll. Basically, a festive anti-hero.

Well, now it’s become even more difficult to egg him on as he’s been given a bloody, horror makeover.

But the character’s slasher reincarnation won’t be here by Halloween. It is set to give horror fans their thrilling fix over the 2022 festive season.

Titled The Mean One, the Grinch parody will be released on 15 December and it will be completely free to watch.

The news about the project was reported on Friday by Deadline, and it was revealed that XYZ Films had picked up the movie for distribution.

According to the media outlet, The Mean One will be focuses on the Santa suit-wearing creature of the same name, who lives on a mountaintop high above Frazier Park and spends his time despising the holiday season.

Cindy You-Know-Who, whose parents became the character’s victims twenty Christmases ago, makes her return to the village to seek revenge.

As reported by Yahoo! News, the film’s official synopsis reads: “The Mean One is a hairy, green-skinned grump in a Santa suit, living on a mountain high above the town of Newville, despising the holiday season.

“Young Cindy You-Know-Who, whose parents were butchered by The Mean One twenty Christmases earlier, is returning to town to seek closure… but is about to discover that this fiend with a heart two sizes to small is still quite eager to carve the roast beast.”

Needless to say, the Grinch has become as a serial killer and promotional image was also released, which showed the movie’s main character tormenting his new target.

The Mean One will be played by David Howard Thornton, with Krystle Martin, Chase Mullins, Amy Schumacher. and John Bigham appearing in supporting roles.

The Grinch is not the only childhood-favourite character who will be receiving a horror-filled makeover, as Winnie The Pooh and Piglet will be portrayed as a pair of cannibals in Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey.

Deadline also reports that the upcoming Christmas slasher film will star David Howard Thornton, Krystle Martin, Chase Mullins, John Bigham, Erik Baker, Flip Kobler, and
