Subscribers don’t want to deal with ads when watching their favourite series and movies.
Many disgruntled Netflix subscribers have threatened to end their membership over the streaming company’s decision to end their long-running basic ad-free option.
Last year, Netflix announced that it planned to remove it’s cheapest ads-free option from their sign-up page for new members in the UK.
Then, last month, the streaming service dropped an email into the inbox of subscribers on the basic package and informed them that their membership had been discontinued and that they would have to choose another option.
Netflix now offers three packages.

Premium is the most expensive and attractive option on offer. If you want 4k video quality, spatial audio and the ability to watch your favourite content on four different devices at any one time, prepare to see £17.99 come out of your bank account each month.
The middle-ground option is the Standard package. It’s certainly not a bad way to go.
The Standard membership gives you 1080p resolution, perfectly good sound quality and two separate devices in your household can watch at the same time. That’ll set you back £10.99 monthly.
Then, there’s the new Basic membership which carries a lot of the same perks as the Standard package, but it’s downfall comes in the form of adverts popping up and interruopting your viewing pleasure.
It’s half the price of the Standard membership and, as Netflix claims, contains ‘fewer ads than you might think’.

It seems people have had it too good for too long, as many people have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction at the changes.
If you’re on the pre-existing basic plan and can’t seem to make a decision in the coming weeks, Netflix will automatically enrol you onto the new ad-inclusive package.
We’re just giving you a heads up so you don’t find yourself shocked and appalled when you’re halfway through an episode of the new season of Too Hot To Handle later this month.
