Jeremy Clarkson has defended Piers Morgan and criticised Meghan Markle as the fallout over her interview with Oprah alongside Prince Harry continues.
After their primetime interview with the American TV host, Morgan erupted on Good Morning Britain - arguing with fellow presenter Alex Beresford and eventually storming off set.
His outburst would lead to more than 50,000 complaints being made to Ofcom, including an official complaint from Markle herself, eventually leading to Morgan stepping down from his role.
In his column in The Sun, Clarkson described Markle as someone "much revered by the young and the stupid who believe that her brand of simpering victimhood will one day bring down the monarchy, but it won’t".
Discussing the different challenges that the monarchy have overcome during their time ruling over the people of Britain, he said that after “beheadings, affairs, abdications” he would be “fairly sure it’ll be able to weather the banal musings of a silly little cable TV actress”.
He added: “Trust me on this one. Markle’s toast, and within five years, I suspect she’ll be posing for photographs, on her own outside the Taj Mahal or sitting on the back of a playboy’s yacht in the Med, and poor old Piers will realise that he lost his job over absolutely nothing at all.”
