The highly anticipated trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie dropped on Friday, revealing Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Charlie Day as Luigi and Chris Pratt as Mario.
Movie fans will always complain and that surely happened as fans wanted a more authentic Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, even if that means watching it in another language. Even that is not the Italian language, seeing as Mario is supposed to be from Italy.
Voice actor and YouTuber @YongYea tweeted a brief clip of the recently released trailer in French.
Only 12 seconds long, it focused on Mario arriving in the Mushroom Kingdom and bounding away after Toad. @YongYea gave their opinion on the trailer dub, writing, "Alright I'm watching the Mario Movie in French." Many Twitter users agreed with the assessment, noting that the French voice actor behind Mario sounds remarkably more like the pipe-traversing plumber gamers know and love.

Responding to the French clip, one Twitter user wrote, "They really nailed it in french I love it," while another commented: "Damn, that's actually what I was hoping he would sound like!"
Another user pointed out that Charles Martinet, the OG voice of Mario, was "robbed off his role" in favour of Chris Pratt.

The Super Mario Bros. trailer was released during the 2022 New York Comic Con where audiences got their first look at the iconic plumber. Starting with Bowser's assault on the Mario 64 penguins, Chris Pratt's Mario arrives in the Mushroom Kingdom and engages briefly with Toad. It is here that Pratt's long-teased voice for the iconic video game character is heard for the first time, revealing a Brooklyn accent over the traditional Italian accent.
