The crossover no one saw coming

Hot off being crowned the winner of this year’s Love Island alongside partner Davide, Ekin-Su has earned herself a new fan direct from the Upside Down.

Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp has admitted to dropped into Ekin-Su’s DMs during a recent Instagram live chat with his series co-star Millie Bobby Brown. He even went as far as to reveal that he and Ekin-Su have shared a video call.

A clip of the reveal was recently shared to social media and fans have been loving hearing about the most unlikely franchise crossover of 2022.

The short clip sees Schnapp, 17, who plays Will Byers in Netflix’s hit supernatural series, speaking to 18-year-old Brown, who plays Eleven, on Instagram live. Not long into the clip, Schanpp says: “I DM’d Ekin-Su and she answered me”.

Taken off guard, a wide-eyed Brown replies with an enthusiastic: “”she did!?”

Schnapp continues to laugh, before admitting: “We’ve video called each other.”

Fans seemed to love the moment, with one saying: “NO FREAKING WAY… CROSSOVER OF THE CENTURY METHINKS” accompanied by three crying face emojis.

“NO WAY LMAOOOO” gushed another.

“WILL BYERS AND EKIN SU COLLAB,” offered a third.

Meanwhile, some were simply blown away that the stars of Stranger Things also love watching ITV2’s hit dating show: “love that they watched Love Island.”

Schnapp and Brown were both seen earlier this year in the fourth series of Stranger Things which introduced the show’s cast of teenage heroes to a new big bad in the form of the murderous Vecna. However the series also made waves due to its newest star Eddie Munson, played by British actor Joseph Quinn.

Munson quickly became a fan favourite, with his “Master of Puppets” guitar-shredding skills receiving praise from song-originators Metallica, and Doja Cat even dropping Quinn a line by shooting off her own Instagram DM.

The latter moment made headlines a few weeks ago when Schnapp made Doja Cat’s DMs to Quinn public knowledge.

Over on ITV2, Ekin-Su and Davide were named the clear winner of this year’s Love Island after receiving
63.7 per cent of the public vote. In addition, the pair also bagged the £50,000 prize money.

When the show’s winner was revealed on Monday August 1, Stranger Things star Schnapp reportedly posted his support of the decision by issuing an overjoyed “yes!!” on Instagram.
