Stone Cold Steve Austin will make a return to WWE this month

Hell yeah!

WHAT?

If you find yourself in desperate need of your Stone Cold Stunner fix, we’ve got tremendous news for you as WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin has been confirmed to appear on the upcoming special 25th anniversary episode of Raw.

The Texas Rattlesnake will appear alongside the likes of D-Generation X, Ric Flair, Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross, The Dudley Boyz and the APA to mark 25 years since the organisation’s flagship show was first aired.

To WWE fans who fell in love with the brand in the Attitude Era, Austin represents the glory years of professional wrestling and his long-running feud with Vince McMahon became arguably the greatest storyline of all time.

The Bionic Redneck has been reduced to sporadic appearances in the ring in recent years since his official retirement in 2003 but that doesn’t mean we haven’t seen the occasional Stunner when he does rear his hellraising head.

The special episode of Raw will air on Sky Sports on January 22 and while nowadays you can’t get away with many of the antics that Stone Cold entertained us with in the late 1990s, we’re sure he’ll provide us with a memorable promo and some chaos upon his return.

Last year, Austin revealed that he is inundated with requests for an official comeback but that a return to the grinding life of pro-wrestler is not something that appeals to him.

Speaking on his podcast, Austin said: “I’m 52, and I get these e-mails all the time saying ‘Steve, why don’t you make a comeback? So and so did it. Goldberg did it.’ Man I’m happy for all my friends who make comebacks, and Bill [Goldberg] going in and beating Brock Lesnar, that was awesome.

“So maybe they’re lining [up the rematch] for WrestleMania 33 down there in Orlando. But I ain’t making no comeback. I had someone cuss me out on an e-mail the other day saying that they hated my guts because I wouldn’t do a comeback. Man, I’m done!”
