"For eight months, the mysterious Darth Vader has enforced the Emperor's commands"
A fan-made Star Wars film has been released that allows fans to go deep into the psyche of Darth Vader.
Set in the aftermath of The Revenge of the Sith, the film begins with Darth Vader attempting to kill Emperor Palpatine as he fights off clone troopers.
The scene is then revealed to be a dream sequence, but highlights the young Anakin Skywalker's conflict over the death of his wife Padme in the official franchise's third film.
Further conflict between the two characters is highlighted in a later scene in which Vader is dispatched by his master to kill a Jedi in hiding, an order he carries out as only Vader can.
A plot synopsis reads: "For eight months, the mysterious Darth Vader has enforced the Emperor's commands. Fighting between the loss of Padme, and the new cursed life he now leads, Vader must do what must be done when a surviving Jedi Master from Order 66 has lured him to the home planet of his late Wife's tomb."
The 16-minute not-for-profit film was created by the YouTube account Star Wars Theory which has over a million followers on the video sharing platform. The film itself has been viewed over four million times.
