Sam from Game of Thrones says that every episode in Season 8 is ‘monumental’

Paul Moore

Expect “six ‘Episode 9s’”. That’s the most action-packed episodes imaginable!

At present, the final season of Game of Thrones is only starting to take shape but with directors announced and sets being built, the great war is here.

With an increased budget of $15m per episode, we’re really hoping for some extra direwolf action in the final six episodes, but with an increased running time expected, there’s a whole lot of action that needs to happen.

As things currently stand, the Night King has smashed through The Wall and with Winterfell rumoured to be his next destination, Jon Snow and Daenerys better stop ‘rocking’ that boat as they sail to White Harbor.

Make no mistake about it, Game of Thrones is coming to a breathtaking finale and in an interview with The Huffington Post, John Bradley (Sam) has offered a few mouthwatering details.

“We assembled a team of directors this year who have been in charge of some of our big episodes in the past. Miguel (Sapochnik) and David (Nutter) have done some of the standout episodes of previous seasons. Clearly every single episode of the six you’ve got left in Season 8 is gonna be monumental and needs somebody at the helm who’s done that kind of high-stakes, high-octane direction before for us.”

The penultimate episode in every season has usually been a remarkable piece of TV – Baelor, Blackwater, Watchers on the Wall, The Rains of Castamere and Beyond The Wall proving this – it appears that Game of Thrones is refusing to slow down, in fact, it’s about to amp up the action.

“I think what we used to call Episode 9 in ‘Game of Thrones’ folklore — the episode when everything comes to a head and you get a lot of spectacular sequences — I think you’re gonna get six ‘Episode 9s’ this year,” Bradley added. “You can tell that because we’ve got directors who have been in charge of some of the most huge setpieces in the past doing episodes all throughout the season,” said Bradley.

Winter…IS…here!
