Reading & Leeds festival returns August bank holiday weekend next year

Reading and Leeds Festival have announced their first haul of live acts set to appear at their 2022 edition.

Arctic Monkeys, Rage Against The Machine, Glass Animals, Wolf Alice and Fontaines D.C. are a few of the rock and indie names on the massive line-up so far.

Alongside Arctic Monkeys and Rage, rapper Dave nabs the third headlining spot.

Megan Thee Stallion and Little Simz are some of the other rap names announced. Overall, 30 acts and artists were revealed earlier this morning (December 8).

Others confirmed on the line-up include singer Halsey, drum ‘n’ bass DJ Wilkinson and pop-rock band Bastille.

Reflecting the festival’s approach to representing the contemporary music scene in Britain, artists span rock, rap, indie, pop and beyond.

Reading and Leeds Festival returned earlier this year after missing the 2020 edition due to the covid pandemic.

Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic said: “Reading & Leeds is set to return as the ultimate festival weekend of the summer: defining the sounds of modern ground breaking music. I cannot wait!”

One of next year’s featured headliners, Dave, told BBC Newsbeat: “It’s a massive honour, especially to be in the company of other legends that are headlining.

“To headline a festival of that magnitude and size, I think, is an interesting challenge to do over two dates in two different parts of the UK.”

Pre-sale tickets for the festival are now on sale until Friday. For Reading tickets, click here, and for Leeds tickets, click here.
