How could you capture this brilliance?

Well, that’s the task that faces X-Men and The Usual Suspects director Bryan Singer in his new biopic about the life of the world’s greatest showman.

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ chronicles Queen’s story from 1970, when Mercury joined met with Brian May and Roger Taylor, until the band’s iconic performance at Live Aid in 1985.

Six years later, the singer tragically died of complications from AIDS.

The incredibly talented star of Mr Robot, Rami Malek, has been cast as Freddie Mercury and the first image of him has been released to coincide with the singers’ 71st birthday.

Speaking about the role, Malek says “When you’re able to open your eyes and see a different person staring back at you in the mirror. It’s a very affirming moment.”

In what’s an interesting approach to capturing Mercury’s unique voice, Malek told EW that Bryan Singer is going to combine the voices of both men.

“We’re going to use Freddie as much as possible and use myself as much as possible. I’m in Abbey Road [Studios] right now if that should say anything to you. I’m not working on my acting, Malek says.

After taking a look at the first image, it’s clear that the actor has got Mercury’s mannerisms, body language and look down to a tee.
