A punk band has released a 'scratch and sniff' vinyl that smells like Gwyneth Paltrow's vagina.
Ummm...
Private Function revealed the LP will be available to buy during their Australian tour.
The Melbourne group released their album ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ last week and celebrated its release with a unique 'goopy' edition, an ode to Paltrow’s wellness brand Goop.
In a preview video, the band's guitarist Lauren Hester reference 'one news story that completely dominated the headlines' in 2020: “Gwyneth Paltrow released a candle that smelt like her vagina.”
She added: “This was potentially the greatest thing anyone had ever done […] We immediately tried to buy one, but due to the overwhelming demand, it sold out instantly. They now sell for over $700 each.
“Not owning one is a source of shame in every member of PF’s household. So we decided to take things into our own hands.”
She continued to label the fact that not everyone could access the smell as 'classist', and the group believe everyone should be in with a shot to smell the scent.
According to Hester, the band got contact a French perfumer who was able to recreate the candle's smell.
The list of scents used is include Geranium, Bergamot, Cedar, Damask Rose and Ambrette Seed.
Private Function then paired with a record plant to add the smell to a limited amount of their records.
However, the 'goopy' version, priced at $150, is now sold out on their website and can only be bought at their gigs.
With nine left in stock, one has been put aside for each of their Australian shows.
“If you pre-order a ticket to a show you’ll be given a raffle ticket at the door,” the band wrote on Instagram.
“At every show we’ll be doing a live raffle where someone is walking home with a Goopy.”
