Basically, be more Brosnan

Pierce Brosnan has proved he’s a top husband after reportedly slamming friends who offered his wife weight loss surgery, while also hitting back at hateful trolls on social media.

The James Bond actor, 69, has been married to 58-year-old Keely Shaye Smith for 21 years this August, and shared a heartwarming post on Instagram on their anniversary to celebrate.

The post was flooded with thousands of lovely messages from friends and fans alike, but previous images of the pair shared on social media have not been met with similar support.

In a since-deleted Facebook post which went viral earlier this year, a woman shared two side-by-side images of Brosnan and Smith on the beach. One showed the couple in the 90s – when Brosnan was at the height of his James Bond fame – and the other showed the pair in the present day.

Trolls made horrible comments about how Keely’s figure has changed since she met Brosnan in the 1990s. Which is unsurprising, really, considering it was over 20 years ago.

But in a sophisticated style that even 007 couldn’t match, Brosnan allegedly hit back at the trolls, while also slamming friends who offered his wife surgery.

Brosnan said: “Friends offered her surgery to reduce her weight. But I strongly love every curve of her body. She is the most beautiful woman in my eyes. And also because she had our five children.”

He went on to add that “in the past, I truly loved her for her person, not only for her beauty, and now I’m loving her even more that she is my children’s mother. And I am very proud of her, and I always seek to be worthy of her love.”

Director and film producer Keely Shaye Smith became a part of Brosnan’s life in 1994, just three years after Brosnan lost his first wife, Cassandra Harris, who sadly died of ovarian cancer in 1991.

Brosnan and Smith dated for seven years before marrying in 2001, and have been together ever since.

So, the moral of the story? Be more Brosnan.
