New BBC Two drama Versailles made quite the entrance last night.

A French-Canadian period drama, Versailles is set during the early reign of French king Louis XIV, telling the story of how built his world famous palace, and brought most of the French court along with him for the, erm, ride. Screening at 9.30pm on BBC Two, the show got tongues wagging with its generous amount of sex scenes and nudity. Versailles Yes, we're all adults and we've all probably seen an episode of Game Of Thrones by now. And yes, we've all probably seen another adult naked, be it on a screen or in real life. But it seems for some folks, the idea of full frontal nudity on the BBC was just a teensy bit jarring. Especially when your first sex scene happens two minutes in, and your third incident of nudity arrives 15 minutes later. https://twitter.com/liberian_edo/status/738111430717808640 https://twitter.com/Wengle/status/738111702428946433 https://twitter.com/supergraniwish/status/738112286653591552 The comments on Versailles' sex scenes were only matched by talk around all that lovely Enlightenment-era hair. https://twitter.com/HattyCollier/status/738112289216286721 https://twitter.com/lilyoliviablog/status/738112344212033536 https://twitter.com/quentinrayner/status/738111975935332352 https://twitter.com/mrdavebyrne/status/738111988623147008 https://twitter.com/ItsJulesHarper/status/738111730740559873 Still, Versailles has certainly made a memorable debut on the BBC, bringing together a lovely mixture of high camp, drama and Game Of Thrones style political intrigue. With nine more episodes planned in its first season, we'll be keeping tabs on it, if only to see how ridiculous all those wigs get. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv6BikgnrTQ
