No holding back from the Mullingar man.
Popular though he is in these parts and all around the world, with 37.5 million Twitter followers, Niall Horan isn’t going to be spared some of the abuse that often, unfortunately, comes with the territory for high-profile users of the platform.
Not that it unduly bothers him, however, with the Irish singer saying that the trolls can “go fuck themselves” in
an interview with Esquire this week.

Responding to criticism of a slightly-oversized, wide-brimmed hat he wore while performing at the American Music Awards earlier this year, Horan said he has “gone past the point of caring” about opinions people express about him on social media.
“Back in the day it used to be that you’d read stuff and be like, ‘Aw, is that what they think of me?’” Horan told Esquire.
“But the way the world turns is you can do no right, so I’ve just gone past the point of caring. Apparently, all these people who are writing to you are perfect, so they have every right to say that to you. So they can go fuck themselves (laughs)”.
Having recently signed on with modelling agency Wilhelmina, the Esquire interview is mostly about fashion – at one point, Horan describes a previous version of himself as “probably the worst dressed man on the planet” – but he also talks about his debut solo album, Flicker, country music and taking a photo on a mechanical bull.
