Netlix’s latest true crime documentary depicts a murder case that’s beyond belief

Paul Moore

So strange that it’s true.

“The land of the free and the home of the brave” is what we’re frequently told about American society, but like every other country in the world, the criminal justice system is far from perfect.

Documentaries like The Keepers, 13th, Making A Murderer and The Fear of 13 have gripped Netflix viewers but the next true crime feature from the online streaming giants will depict a case that seems too strange to be true.

Like so many people, Juan Catalan was arrested for a murder he didn’t commit.

At the time of this murder, Catalan was watching his favourite baseball team, the LA Dodgers.

To save his life, all he had to do was prove that he was one of 56,000 people at the Dodgers’ stadium on that particular that night.

In order to do so, he needs the help from one high-profile celebrity, Larry David.

Yes, that’s right. Larry David from Curb Your Enthusiasm and Seinfeld.

Long Shot will be available to view on Netflix from Friday 29 September.

Take a look.

In case you need a reminder, that particular episode of Curb You Enthusiasm features a plotline that sees Larry David picking up a hooker so he can use the car-pool lane to get to see a game at Dodger Stadium.

Here’s a clip from the episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm that might ultimately have saved Catalan’s life.

If you need another reason to get excited about the new documentaries that are being added to Netflix, the upcoming Strong Island should help.
