Music legend Meat Loaf dies aged 74

Music legend and actor Meat Loaf, real name Michael Lee Aday, has died aged 74.

His sad passing was confirmed by his manager and agent Micheal Greene on Friday. He is said to have died with his wife by his side and his daughters were able to spend time with him before he passed.

The family confirmed that they will not be releasing his cause of death to the public. They issued a full statement on his Facebook page:

While he is undoubtedly best known for the legendary track, "Bat Out of Hell", the artist appeared in a plethora of movies, including a starring role as Eddie in Rocky Horror Picture Show.

His seminal album is one of the greatest selling records of all time and it's clear how much of an impact its title track and so many others had on millions of fans around the world - not to mention its two sequels.

The Texas-born singer had been performing since the 1960s and even went on to win a Grammy Award in 1994 for his iconic ballad, "I'd Do Anything for Love".

His family signed off their statement will the following message: “From his heart to your souls…don’t ever stop rocking!”
