More Breaking Bad spin-offs? Vince Gilligan says there's a chance
We're still incredibly giddy here at JOE HQ, and it's all because Better Call Saul has returned to our lives.
We can't wait to see Jimmy descend into the sleezy Saul that we all love so much - but with so many incredible characters existing in the Breaking Bad universe, it's very possible that we could be seeing even more spin-offs.
In an interview with the Radio Times, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has said the idea of developing new projects has occurred to him.
"You know it’s funny, I was answering a question earlier today, why Saul and not another character like Jesse Pinkman and why not Gustavo Fring?" he said.
"I could absolutely see a series about all these characters.”
But Gilligan is also wary of overkill. In his own words: "At a certain point, I fear it would begin to smack of…we’re chewing our cud twice, we’re going to the well a bit too much".
“I guess the short answer is never say never," he added.
"But I don’t think we are spending a lot of time thinking about additional spin-offs because I think we want to get through this show, we want to make it as good as we can and we want to maintain its integrity from start to finish. We don’t want our reach to exceed our grasp.”
Gilligan did tease a potential Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul crossover, though, adding "Another aspect of this is that we still have in Better Call Saul, we have this universe of characters from Breaking Bad many of whom could conceivably make an appearance or be very important players in Better Call Saul,” he told us.
“Who knows, maybe going forward you might see other characters play a role.”
We can't wait to get stuck into Season 2 on Netflix. Any chance that Skinny Pete and Badger might get their own show? We can only hope.
