Let's just ignore the absolute absurdity of an electrical storm giving a group of kids doing community service superpowers, because the British sci-fi series was a breath of fresh air and it's about to be rebooted.
We really hope that they don't make an absolute balls of it.
Fans of the show will be pleased to know that the original series creator, Howard Overman, is on board for the reboot and he'll be joined by original series producer Murray Ferguson. This being said, the US reboot will also involve Diane Ruggiero-Wright (iZombie, Veronica Mars), Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl, The O.C.).
In case you haven't seen the original, Misfits revolved around a group of young offenders in a community-service program who develop supernatural powers after being hit by a mysterious electrical storm.
Game of Thrones star Iwan Rheon and Oscar-nominated actress Ruth Negga starred in the original as it helped launch the careers of various other actors.
The new cast includes Ashleigh Lathrop (Sirens) as Alicia, a spoiled, middle-class party girl; Tre Hall (Ten Days in the Valley) as Curtis, a talented and cocky football player; Jake Cannavale (Nurse Jackie) as Nathan, a con artist with an ego; and Allie MacDonald (Orphan Black) as Kelly, who is street-smart and volatile.
Here's hoping that the producers manage to capture some of the magic that made the original such a beloved cult-classic.
Any excuse to play this banger is always welcome.
