Love Island fans call for contestant to be axed over ‘uncomfortable’ age gap

Some suggested there should be an age limit on the show

Love Island viewers have reacted angrily to the age gap between two contestants on the show, after a particularly racey challenge.

Casa Amor is in full swing on the ITV2 show, with the contestants in the two villas taking part in a number of challenges to win a party night.

This saw the return of classic challenges which see the islanders act out different sex positions and asked to kiss the contestant they find the most attractive.

But some viewers were left uncomfortable when 24-year-old Tyrique decided to kiss one of the villa’s newest arrivals, 19-year-old Amber.

Several felt the age gap between the two was far too big, and took to Twitter to voice their anger.

One person wrote: “I can’t watch a 19 year old snog a grown man on TV.”

“Nah I don’t like watching a 19 year old snog grown men on TV, maybe it’s just me,” someone else said.

A third tweeted: “Feeling very very very uncomfortable watching Love Island tonight. When did it get SO sexual. My goodness.”

Some suggested an age limit should be introduced on the show, with one viewer writing: “Okay but seriously, 19 and 20 year olds shouldn’t be on this show, this is so uncomfortable to watch.”

Others compared the situation to last summer’s series when Gemma Owen coupled up with Davide, despite an eight-year age gap between them. At the time, Gemma was aged 19 and Davide was 27.

One viewer said: “19????? literally a baby… have they not learned since gemma? leave the teenagers alone itv.”

While another penned: “there’s a 19 year old in there???? Bro I feel like this show should be 21+ bc last year w Gemma [Owen] and davide…. It’s unsettling.”

Amber Wise, 19, joined the show as part of the Casa Amor segment (ITV)

Amber, who is the daughter of Chelsea legend Dennis Wise, arrived on the show on Sunday and made an immediate impression by telling her fellow islanders that she was dating nine boys at the same time before taking part in the show.

Her and Tyrique quickly hit it off, as they bonded over football, and all eyes are sure to be on the pair at the next recoupling.
