Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl half-time performance in New Orleans last night has been labelled the 'worst half-time show ever' by some fans.
Two-time defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs and the National Football Conference champion Philadelphia Eagles came face to face but it was anything but a close affair as the Eagles stormed to victory.
A highlight of the game for many is the musical spectacle that is the half-time show and while some raved over the show, others slammed the rappers controversial performance.
The LA rapper has had an incredible year, not least because of the success of his Drake diss track Not Like Us which recently took home five Grammys.
The track is now subject to a lawsuit as Drake is suing record label UMG for defamation.
There was uncertainty over whether Lamar would be allowed to perform Not Like Us but he of course included one of 2024’s biggest Hip Hop tracks in his set.
He omitted some of the lyrics in an attempt to avoid another legal battle as he told the crowd: ""I want to perform their favourite song, but you know they love to sue."
The song which was released in May sensationally accuses Drake of being a 'certified pedophile' and pursuing minors. Drake denied the allegations in his rebuttal track The Heart Part 6, saying his was 'not a name you gon’ see on no sex offender list'.
The rapper had a surprise introduction from actor Samuel L. Jackson, 76, who was dressed up as 'Uncle Sam', and performed a medley of his hits, before he was joined by R&B singer SZA.
There was also a surprise appearance from Serena Williams during his set.
Lamar performed wacced out murals, Bodies, Squabble, Euphoria, Humble, DNA, man at the garden, and Peekaboo by himself, before he was joined by SZA.
The duo performed their collabs Luther and All the Stars. SZA wowed in an all-red look. Kendrick was also joined by DJ Mustard during the show.
He finished off his performance with the song Tv Off.
However fans took to social media to blast the performance saying: "worst halftime show ever not a fan."
A second said: "I genuinely can’t tell if I’m being biased against Kendrick but I think this is the worst halftime show I’ve seen in a minute."
While a third said: "Somehow Kendrick is worse than the game itself."
A fourth echoed: "I thought The Weekend was bad but Kendrick Lamar took that spot! Worst half time show ever!"
