Dior stopped airing the advert when allegations against Depp surfaced
Johnny Depp has reportedly signed a new seven-figure deal with Dior to continue fronting one of their men’s fragrances.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star, who first signed with the fashion house in 2015 as the face of Sauvage, is now said to have signed a new multi-year deal, TMZ reports.
The publisher suggested the deal was worth seven-figures and came together after Dior bosses and famous fashion photog Greg Williams attended one of Depp and Jeff Beck’s rock concerts in Paris.
Depp toured with Beck after he won his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard on June 1.
According to TMZ sources, Depp did a photo shoot with Williams before and after the Paris show, and the content will be used in a new Dior advertising campaign.
When Heard first made allegations against Depp, Dior stopped airing the Sauvage commercial.
However, when a jury in Fairfax Virginia found in his favour, the ad featured in key time slots on FOX.
A jury in Fairfax County, Virginia, ruled that Heard defamed Depp by publishing an op-ed about being a sexual assault survivor in the Washington Post and awarded him $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. The punitive damages amount was later reduced to $350,000 in keeping with Virginia law.
Heard, the juror found, was also defamed. She was awarded $2m.
