She has revealed her reason for quitting.
American actor Jennifer Lawrence has announced she is taking a break from acting to get young people interested in politics.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight: “I’m going to take the next year off. I’m going to be working with this organisation as a part of Represent.Us, trying to get young people engaged politically on a local level.”
“It doesn’t have anything to do with partisan [politics]. It’s just anti-corruption and stuff.”
The charity’s aim is to get laws enacted that ‘top political bribery, end secret money, and fix our broken elections’.
It comes after she said she wanted to speak to high schools and university campuses about politics.
She said: “I would love to help pass a bundle of laws [against government corruption]. We’d be able to pass state-by-state legislation to help [stop] corruption in our government.”
The break will come after the release of Red Sparrow which is due out at the start of March.
