Here’s a first look at the most terrifying scene from the It remake

Paul Moore

This makes us happy and terrified.

After audiences watched Jaws in the cinema, marketing executives came up with a genius slogan that tapped into the public fear that Steven Spielberg’s masterpiece evoked.

“Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water” was the superb slogan that they used on Jaws 2, and just like countless other memorable horror films, the fear is real.

Hands up if you still get creeped out by twin girls that are wearing the same clothes (The Shining), instantly think the worst about any man that’s named Damien (The Omen), jump at the sight of a spider (Arachnophobia) or refuse to answer a phone call from an unknown number (Scream)

As a genre, horror has a way of impacting our psyche that’s unparalleled, and if you watched the mini-series It in your childhood years, it’s very likely that you’ll remember one particular scene.

Georgie, boat, sewer, balloon. You know what’s coming next.

With news that Andrés Muschietti’s remake is absolutely terrifying, Empire have received a first glimpse of a truly haunting scene.

Just remember one thing, “they float, they all float… and when you’re down here with me, you’ll float too.”

It is released in cinemas on September 8th.
