The director of Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels reinvents the Disney classic.

Given the fact that Guy Ritchie has reinvigorated the Sherlock Holmes franchise and stylishly adapted the beloved spy show The Man From U.N.C.L.E, the British director is more than capable of taking on a beloved Disney tale.

Like The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast and the upcoming adaptation of The Lion King,  Aladdin is coming back to the big screen as a live action tale and they’ve found their two leads.

Granted, we all knew a few weeks ago that Will Smith was playing the genie in a roll made famous by Robin Williams, but what about the new stars?

Massoud has been working in television and film since 2011, but he’s largely remained under the radar. This being said, he is starring in Amazon’s new series about Jack Ryan – made famous in films like The Hunt for Red October and Patriot Games.

Regarding the new Princess Jasmine, Scott was most recently seen as the Pink Ranger in Saban’s Power Rangers film.

John August, whose credits include “Big Fish,” wrote the new Aladdin script and with Ritchie behind the lens, we’re expecting plenty of action and adventure.

The 1992 animation won Academy Awards for best score and best song for “A Whole New World.”

In addition to the Aladdin casting, Disney’s unveiled a plethora of upcoming projects that are bound to get you excited.
