This will take some beating
The trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has smashed a YouTube world record previously held by MrBeast.
GTA 6 has reportedly been in development for years, and last month the game’s producers, Rockstar Games, confirmed the first trailer for the highly-anticipated game would be arriving in early December to mark the company’s 25th anniversary.
The trailer was initially meant to be released this afternoon UK time, but on Monday (December 4) the trailer was leaked online, prompting Rockstar to unveil it 15 hours earlier than planned.
Although it doesn’t feature any gameplay, we do get to see some stunning shots of Vice City, some pretty impressive-looking graphics and an introduction to the game’s female lead character Lucia.
It also reveals that we won’t be getting our hands on the game until 2025.
Since it was released, the trailer has obliterated a world record previously set by YouTube superstar MrBeast.
Back in August, MrBeast shared that his video ‘7 Days Stranded at Sea’ had broken the world record for most views in 24 hours on a non-music video, after it was viewed 46 million times in less than a day.
Well, that record’s gone.
In just nine hours, the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer has already surpassed this, racking up 48.8 million views at the time of writing.
And there’s no sign this is going to stop any time soon.
Whether it can break the all-time record for most views in 24 hours is a different question.
According to Filmora, this is currently held by BTS for the music video for their song Butter, which was viewed 108 million times in one day and reached 30 million views in 2 hours 20 minutes.
