Great news because Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are working on a new horror-comedy TV show

Paul Moore

Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and now this. How’s that for a slice of fried gold?

A few months ago, we told you that 2/3 of the masterminds behind the ‘Cornetto trilogy’ created a new film and TV production company named Stolen Picture. The duo also revealed that they’re producing their first film, Slaughterhouse Rulez, which marks their return to the comedy-horror genre but that’s not all.

Given that they came to the world’s attention in the superb TV show Spaced, it’s fitting that they’re returning to that medium in their next project, Truth Seekers.

Trust Seekers will follow a three-person paranormal investigation team, with each episode clocking in at half an hour. We’re also told that each episode will focus on a different paranormal incident.

In an interview with Variety, Pegg said:  “Each episode is going to be an adventure, a potential haunting or something. It’ll start as a very parochial idea, a very small business venture for these people, but it will expand as the series goes on to be something far more global. It’s a language everyone understands, the mystery of the unknown. ‘Shaun of the Dead’ was a very parochial story set in North London and somehow it managed to get this global reach because everyone understands the language of zombie movies.”

Whatever this involves – aliens, vampires, werewolves, zombies – we’re 100% behind it.

Fair play to them for finding the time to take this project on board because both men are quite busy at the moment.

Frost will be seen in Tomb Raider, Dwayne Johnson wrestling comedy Fighting With My Family, and he also stars in AMC TV drama Into the Badlands. Meanwhile, Pegg has a Paramount project in the works, will star alongside Margot Robbie in thriller Terminal, and is currently finishing the delayed Mission: Impossible 6.

As for the film that their producing, Slaughterhouse Rulez, heer’s what fans can expect. It’s set in an elite boarding school – Welcome to Slaughterhouse – where boys and girls are groomed for power and greatness and they’re about to meet their match. The story’s hero, Don Wallace, is a wide-eyed new boy from a modest background forced to navigate a baffling new world of arcane rules and rituals, presided by sadistic sixth formers. Matters of status are aggressively enforced and conversation with school goddess Clemsie is strictly forbidden.

But this ancient and ordered world is about to be shaken to its foundations – literally – when a controversial frack site on prize school woodland causes seismic tremors, a mysterious sinkhole and an unspeakable horror is unleashed. Soon a new pecking order will be established as pupils, teachers and the school matron become locked in a bloody battle for survival.

To anyone that isn’t excited about Pegg and Frost working together, we’ve got one thing to say.
