Dr Dre: “I made some f***ing horrible mistakes in my life”

JOE

Dr Dre has opened up about his history of violence.

The rapper responded to questions about an incident in 1991 where he assaulted journalist Denise ‘Dee’ Barnes and recent claims of repeated abuse in the nineties from his one-time girlfriend Michel’le.

He opened up about his past to Rolling Stone magazine, of which he’ll appear on the cover of the forthcoming issue alongside friend and fellow NWA member Ice Cube.

Dre said: “I made some f**king horrible mistakes in my life. I was young, f**king stupid. I would say all the allegations aren’t true – some of them are. Those are some of the things that I would like to take back. It was really f**ked up. But I paid for those mistakes, and there’s no way in hell that I will ever make another mistake like that again.”

Also this week during promotions for the film, Dre explained the album came about from a impromptu decision one evening.

Speaking to YouTube, he said: “You know what, I was on the set [of Straight Outta Compton], I was leaving the set every day and I just felt so inspired. I decided one night on the way home I was going to roll up my sleeves and start working on this album.”

It was released on August 7.
