David Beckham is like any other protective dad with a daughter - he can't stand the thought of them dating.

The retired footballer has admitted he has different rules for Harper to his sons.

David and wife Victoria, who have kids Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 13, Cruz, 10, and Harper, four, says his eldest son is "definitely" at the age where he wants to go on dates, but he and his spouse have guidelines in place for him to follow.

He told Entertainment Tonight: "Obviously Brooklyn is definitely at that age. You know, he's 16, he's definitely at that age.

"We're strong parents, and strict parents, but we're like most parents. We love our kids and we want the best for them, so we'll see."

Asked if the rules will be different when Harper starts dating, he laughed: "Oh yeah. That'll definitely be different."
