Conor McGregor hijacks Sydney Sweeney’s Instagram in bizarre exchange

The Irish fighter hijacked the Euphoria star’s promo to advertise his own film.

Conor McGregor has gone to bizarre lengths to big up his acting debut, and left fans confused when he commented on actress Sydney Sweeney’s Instagram post promoting her new horror film.

26-year-old Sweeney is a rising star in film and television, and recently starred in hit series The White Lotus and rom-com Anyone But You.

She posted shots from the red carpet of her new horror flick, Immaculate, in which she plays an American nun who encounters mysterious events in the Italian countryside.

The film is set to be released on March 22nd, one day before the eagerly-anticipated Roadhouse starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor.

In a bizarre act of self-promotion, McGregor posted a comment on Sweeney’s social media post, writing: “@roadhousemovie March 21st.”

McGregor’s comment currently has over 30,000 likes and many people have seen the funny side of his unapologetic marketing.

User parknight888 wrote: “The promo on the promo is genius lol.”

Another user harshly wrote: “The one everyone’s actually going to.”

Speaking to JOE, the 35-year-old’s co-stars on the film Jake Gyllenhaal and Daniella Melchior praised McGregor’s performance, and suggested they could see him play a role in the rumoured Peaky Blinders movie.

Speaking to ET at Tuesday night’s US premiere of Roadhouse, McGregor insisted he had no “beef” with Sweeney and heaped praise on the 26-year-old.

“I see a lot of Sydney Sweeney. [She’s] doing a lot of great things lately,” he said.

“She follows me, so I follow her. I’m a fan. She’s doing very good.

“I thought she was amazing on Saturday Night Live. I love Saturday Night Live [and] that was one of the better ones in years.”

Earlier today, McGregor confirmed he’ll be returning to the octagon this summer.

He’ll fight former Bellator champion Michael Chandler, and the bout will likely headline UFC 303 in Las Vegas at the end of June.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, McGregor said: “The call has been made and we’re a go. This means this summer, the Mac is back.

“So with I’m happy with my time I’ve got in the lead-up to it, I’m happy with where I’m at, and everything just works out in God’s name. And I’m ecstatic where I’m at. I’ve got great news the other day.”
